FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS METRO ESCALATOR RENOVATION UPDATE (PHOTOS)

The escalator between the bus bays and mezzanine at the Friendship Heights Metro station is currently scheduled to reopen on October 31. Will there be a trick or a treat come that day? Stay tuned. Here are some photos of the project.

TRICK OR TREAT AT CHEVY CHASE CENTER OCTOBER 18

Halloween is coming early to Chevy Chase Center in Friendship Heights. Next Saturday, October 18, from 12:30 to 3:00 PM, the shopping center will be giving away free pumpkins (while they last), and promises a "spooky train ride." Kids can Trick or Treat at the center's stores, jump in a Haunted Moon Bounce, and stop by the face painters for a temporary Halloween makeover.

There will also be live music, and Sweet Teensy Bakery's free Spooky Cupcakes (while they last).

LUNCHBOX CHEVY CHASE PHOTO GALLERY

The hot lunch spot of the moment in Friendship Heights is local-but-celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio's Lunchbox. Once located in Frederick, the revamped lunch concept now resides in Chevy Chase Pavillion. Prices reflect the Chevy Chase median income - a turkey sandwich cost me $10. But the high quality of the food, and star chef branding (and high-rent location), won't have most people expecting low prices here. Lunchbox opened about 10 days ago.
